Our vision is to show the world the wealth of design talent that exists in Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa by creating a design platform, through which the creative artistry can be showcased using nature’s most remarkable and finest creation: the Diamond.

The De Beers Group Shining Light Awards unites this heritage to create an internationally appealing and unique collection of diamond jewellery.

Since the inception of the Awards in 1996, we have seen a huge increase in the number of participants, and we have witnessed some of our previous winners embarking on successful careers in the industry.

This goes to show that there is a huge amount of latent talent in Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa and the Shining Light Awards provide the ideal vehicle for these skilled designers to show their worth.

It is immensely satisfying to see the fulfilment of potential and it gives us great pride to introduce the 2020 / 2021 Shining Light Awards competition theme – The Evolution of Love and Life.

About Forevermark

About Forevermark – The Inscription

Less than one percent of the world’s diamonds are eligible to become a Forevermark diamond and be inscribed with the Forevermark icon and a unique identification number.

Highly advanced, proprietary technology is used to inscribe the icon and unique identification number on the table facet of a Forevermark diamond. Invisible to the naked eye, the actual size of the inscription found on Forevermark diamonds is only 1/20th of a micron deep and can only be seen using a special Forevermark viewer which can be found in Authorised Forevermark Jewellers. It is confirmed by leading gemological institutes that the Forevermark inscription does not affect the internal quality of a diamond in any way.
